My favourite time of the week is here, the end. Love those days, we just came back from sledding with the kids and now we're going to treat ourselves and go out for dinner.

Today's card is another challenge over at SCS, it's called a CAS card, meaning clean & simple. Lately I've become really fond of a lot of layers on my card so this felt a little boring for me but like I've said before, it's good to get out of your comfort zone.

First I used my circle nestability to create the dry embossed frame, it's hard to see in the photo but it is there. Then I stamped the bird and watercoloured it in with my auqua painter and ink pads.

Recipe:
Stamps: Spring Song
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, choclate chip, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Old Olive

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend!

It's a great Day!

It's such a nice day in our house today, the kids are playing well together, my DH is sleeping after working all night, and I'm catching up on things. I'm not going to let my laundry pile put a damper on my day, lol.

I did this card yesterday for another SCS challenge, this time it was a sketch challenge, my favourite kind. It's a fairly simple card to make, I watercoloured the flower and than carefuly cut it out and adhered it to the sahara cardstock. Otherwise not much so explain.

Recipe:
Stamps: Morning Soft, Best yet
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand, DSP-Parisian Summer, Watercolour pp
Ink: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, Basic Black
Other: Hodgepodge, Cuttlebug embossing folder

Thanks for stopping by, I hope your day is going well also!

SCS Color Challenge

I'm participating in the challenges over at Splitcoaststampers so that I can hopefully take my stamping to the next level. Today was a tough one for me, I have never liked Pacific Point very much, in fact I hadn't even used this color up until today. So I forced myself to do it anyway and now that it's complete, I actually like the colors together. Lesson learned: Get out of your comfort zone more often!

Recipe:
Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Paper: Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, DSP - Urban Garden & Green Tea
Ink: Pacific Point
Other: Clear Rhinestone brads, baja breeze ribbon, long rectangle nestabilities

Thanks for stopping by!

My new addiction.

So I finally got my hands on some half back pearls, now I can't get enough of them. You'll probably be seeing more of them! I also want to take the time to say thank-you for the comments I've been getting. I'm just a small blog but it's nice to have that little bit of interaction with fellow stampers.

This was a quick card I made using the same sketch challenge from SCS. I love the colors together but wonder what I could add to make it better, any thoughts? I was thinking about adding some crystal effects to the petals but I thought it might compete too much with the pearls. So for now it stays this way.

Recipe:
Stamps: Embrace Life, Pocket Silhouettes
Paper: Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand, DSP: Urban Garden
Ink: Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze
Other: Half back pearls, nestabilities, swiss dots embossing folder

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a great day!

Happy Sunday

I love Sundays, the perfect day to relax, spend time with family, and make some cards. Today's cards were easy but I like them. I hadn't made one single Valentine's day card, so today I made one. I like how it turned out but the pictures really doesn't do it justice, I should have waited until morning I guess.

Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly, Holidays & Wishes
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette, DSP unkown
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette
Other: Vanilla grosgrain ribbon, half back pearls, nesabilities

Ink: Basic Grey
Other: Black grosgrain ribbon, nesabilities

Serene Spring

Well now that I'm back, you're going to get sick of me...
I hate the fact that most of my cards are cased in some way or another. I really want to be able to come up with my own creations. On Splitcoaststampers it's been mentioned before that the best way to do this is to join the challenges. So today was my first attempt at the sketch challenge. I love it, it's so much easier for me to come up with a plan and yet I don't feel like I'm casing so completely.

I used the Serene Spring stamp set for this card again. I love watercolouring lately, especially with the aqua painter and my stamp pads, so easy!

Recipe:
Stamps: Serene Spring, Fundamental Phrases
Paper: Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Watercolour pp, DSP-Green Tea
Ink: Baja Breeze, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive, So Saffron
Other: Hodgepodge, nestabilities, embossing folder

Thanks for looking, have a great evening.

Dream A Little

These next three cards are made using the new level 3 hostess set, Dream A Little. A very beautiful stamp set. I love this card layout so I made three cards using the same layout but changed the colors. The way I see it, if you find a style that works for you, who cares how many times you duplicate it. The recipiants will never know that someone else has a similar one.

Recipe:
Stamps: Dream a Little, Fundamental Phrases
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand, Watercolour pp, DSP-Parisian Summer
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette, Always Artichoke, So Saffron
Other: Rhinestones, nestabilties

Recipe:
Stamps: Dream A Little. Fundamental Phrases
Paper: Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, DSP Green Tea, Watercolour pp
Ink: Baja Breeze, Old Olive, So Saffron
Other: Rhinestones, nestabilities

Recipe:
Stamps: Dream a Little
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Watercolour pp, DSP Urban Garden
Ink: Baja Breeze, Kiwi kiss, So Saffron
Other: Rhinestones

More Cards

Well if you haven't noticed it yet, you will after todays card uploads, I am currently in love with rhinestones! They give a card such an elegant boost, it adds just the right ammount of sparkle.
I added crystal effects to the petals of the card, in real life it gives it such a nice effect. Otherwise, it's a pretty basic card.

Recipe:
Stamps: Embrace Life, Sincere Salutations
Paper: Baja Breeze, Basic Grey, Whisper White, DSP-Urban Garden
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Basic Grey
Other: WW Taffetta Ribbon, Rhinestones, nestabilities, Crystal Effects

I shouldn't be posting this card with the ink smears on it but I made it and maybe this will finally get me to order a new Bravo Burgundy ink pad. Apparently this color gets a weird film on it after a while, mine has it and the ink doesn't want to dry properly. I'm having to heat set it and even then, it doesn't always prevent the smears. I think my next order I'll have to add a new pad.

Recipe:
Stamps: Dream a Little
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand, DSP-Parisian Summer
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke, Pink Pirouette
Other: Crstal Effects, Ribbon, rhinestone brads

Time for Some Cards

So I was busy this morning uploading tons of pictures of the cards that I made over the last two weeks. I ordered two of the new hostess sets that you'll see in the new Stampin Up catalogue, which I have to say, is a beautiful book so full of ideas.I'll post pics of those today as well.

I think I'll break this up into a couple of posts since I'm bound to mess up the order. But here goes:

This first one is one of my least favourites, it just didn't turn out like I had envisioned in my mind. Too dull. But I made it using the A Light Unto my Path stamp set which is now retired.

Recipe:
Stamps: A Light Unto My Path
Paper: Close TO Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, DSP-Hawaii Papaya
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: Hemp Twine, Jumbo Eyelets

Next we have a card made with the Serene Spring stamp set, it really is a cute stamp set, not normally my style but now that I have it, I like it.

Recipe:
Stamps: Serene Spring
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Watercolour paper
Inks: Not Quite Navy, Close to Cocoa, Apricot Appeal, Old Olive, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue
Other: Jumbo Eyelets

This card has more mistakes on it than I care to point out but I'll post it anyway.

Recipe:
Stamps: Spring Song
Paper: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Watercolour pp, DSP-Green Tea
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Apricot Appeal, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze, Old Olive
Other: Rhinestone Brad, Chocolate Chip ribbon, nestabilities

Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

Arghhhhhhhhhhh! I'm Finally back on!

Wow, to say this has been frustrating would be putting it mildly. We left for our big move on January 8, had our phone back on by the beginning of the following week. But then we find out our modem was broken, a new one would be sent right away. Today I finally called, well it was on backorder. They told me that the local phone place would not carry these modems but would pay for one if I found one. So today I went into telus, and good enough, they were sitting on the shelves, waiting so patiently. I have been feeling some serious withdrawl.

The good news is, I had a lot of time to make cards. I'll post pictures first thing in the morning when I can take better pictures. It is so good to be back, thanks for your patience.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy New Year!

Sorry, no cards today. We are moving in less then a week and I made a huge sacrifice by packing all my SU supplies already, that was hard. I see my lonely table, no stamps, no inks, I'm feeling withdrawl. But we're up in Peace River by next weekend and I already have my scrapbooking room all picked out so it shouldn't take me too long to get back into the swing of things.

This will be last post until we're settled into the new place. I'm so excited to move and yet it's also sooooo much work. On a happier note, we might have sold our house, one day before we were planning on putting it on the market. Crossing my fingers! and toes...

Hope everyone had a great New Year's and I will be back in roughly a week & a half.
